Awards of $2,000 to $4,000 per student
The Alumni Family and Friends Scholarship was created to encourage
the Southwest Florida College spirit in students who are the family
members or friends of you, a SWFC graduate. Since our founding in
1974, generations of Southwest Florida College graduates have passed
on the SWFC tradition to their children, relatives, and dear
friends. The College wants to celebrate this special relationship.
All past graduates (or expected graduates) of Southwest Florida
College are encouraged to nominate family and friends for the 2007
Family & Friends Scholarship.
Nominated individuals must meet all of the following minimum
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
- Be a HS graduate or GED recipient.
- Have not previously attended Southwest Florida College.
- Have a desire, or potential desire, to pursue an Associates
degree with Southwest Florida College.
- Be capable of enrolling full-time in the Winter 2008 quarter
(beginning January 14, 2008).
- Be nominated by a graduate or expected graduate, including a
supporting statement as to why the nomination is deserving of
consideration (nomination form is provided by the College).
The College hopes to award Family & Friends Scholarships to all
eligible nominations, but the total award budget is currently
limited to $50,000 for the Winter 2008 start. Nominations will be
considered in the order in which they are received.
Scholarship amounts are based on the following AWARD CRITERIA:
- $2,000 to those nominated by an Associates degree graduate (or
expected graduate) of Southwest Florida College.
- $4,000 to those nominated by a Bachelors degree student and
Associates degree graduate of Southwest Florida College.
Any Scholarships awarded to your nominees will be given in your
name, the
Southwest Florida College graduate. As the sponsoring alumnus, you
will receive
regular updates on their academic progress and certified recognition
of the
generous scholarship that was awarded to them in your name.
