• SWFC Leadership Conference - Bringing the Pieces Together!
  
  The conference is designed for students who want to take an active leadership role on campus. Come and enhance your leadership exeperience! Current organizations will be provided with support and training that will help to build member's resumes.
  
  The conference will be held on February 6 from 8 AM till 5 PM. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. For more information, email events@swfc.edu or stop by the Student Activities Office.

• Haiti Relief Effort: Southwest Florida College Reaches Out - Southwest Florida College will be participating in a jointly sponsored effort to provide humanitarian relief to the people of Haiti.
  
  “The devastation and human suffering on the island of Haiti is incomprehensible and the plea for help has been heard around the world,” said Dr. Stephen Calabro, Executive Vice President for Southwest Florida College.
  
  Student Activities Director for the college, Pamela King, has organized a donation drop site at each of the four Southwest Florida College campuses, which includes locations in Estero, Fort Myers, Port Charlotte and in Tampa.“We have a Haitian population at the college and we need to show our support and do something to help,” King said. “This helps to foster a sense of community beyond our campus.”
  
  Items such as shoes, blankets, shirts, diapers, toiletries as well as monetary donations, are being accepted at each of the college’s donation drop sites for the Haiti relief effort now through the deadline date of February 28, 2010.
  
  “Our mission statement speaks of changing lives,” said Dr. Calabro. “What better way to demonstrate our commitment to the mission than by reaching out to those in need.”

• Default Management Can Help! - The third Monday of every month, you can meet with representatives at the Fort Myers campus to discuss your Default Management and Tuition Assistance concerns and to get personal advice. • 2010 College Goal Sunday - The Southwest Florida College Tampa campus has been selected to host the 2010 College Goal Sunday. College Goal Sunday is a statewide volunteer program designed to provide free information and assistance to students and families who are applying for financial aid for post secondary education.
  
  Financial aid experts will volunteer their time to assist students and their families with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which is required for any student seeking federal and state financial aid, including grants and loans at all colleges in the country.
  
  The event will be held at the Southwest Florida College Tampa campus located at 3910 Riga Boulevard on Sunday, January 31 from 2 to 5 p.m.
  
  
• Edison Festival of Lights Parade: February 20 at 7PM in downtown Fort Myers River District. Volunteers are needed to help make our float. To participate or for more information, email events@swfc.edu or contact Student Activities.
  
  
• Mardi Gras Club Fair: February 24 at the Fort Myers Campus. All students and prospective students are welcome to find out about the active clubs on campus and to sign-up for their future educational and fun events. There will also be a mask contest! • SWFC’s Got Talent: March 3 at 5:00 p.m. in the Student Lounge at the Fort Myers campus. All students are welcome to perform their family friendly talent in front of a variety of judges, as well as in front of the student population. • March Madness Basketball Tournament: March 11 at the STARS Complex in Fort Myers. Students, sign-up in the library to be a part of a four person team for three on three, half court tournaments. The first bracket starts at 6PM. Guests are welcomed to attend. There will be concessions sold by SWFC student clubs. Student Activities is in need of a DJ/Emcee to host the event and for someone to sing the national anthem. For more information email events@swfc.edu or contact Student Activities.
