Completion of this program will prepare the
student for the MCAD (Microsoft Certified
Applications Developer) certification.
Unlike other colleges, Southwest Florida
College's Web Design and Development
program offers instruction in both IT website
development (HTML/XHTML, JAVA and
Server-side Scripting such as ASP.Net and
PHP) as well as design.
Skills learned include Adobe Creative Suite
5, which includes Photoshop CS5 Extended,
Illustrator CS5, InDesign CS5, Flash Catalyst
CS5, Flash Professional CS5, Dreamweaver
CS5, Fireworks CS5 and Acrobat 9 Pro.
Each student who successfully completes the
Web Design and Development program at
Southwest Florida College will be equipped
with a professional portfolio.
Portfolios are displayed on campus and local
businesses are invited to attend and
interview the students each term. The
portfolio will present both computer
generated and free-hand graphic work that
students can reference when applying for
employment.
Graduates may pursue entry-level positions as
web designers and developers with
advertising agencies, graphic design companies, web development companies,
freelance and more.
