Southwest Florida College's Computer Programming and Database Management
degree program provides the foundation for positions in Information Technology such as computer
support specialist, junior database analyst and administrator, programmer analyst, or systems analyst.
In preparation for these positions, students will obtain the skills needed in both computer and network
technology. Courses will cover the most current programming languages and database management
tools available.
An integrated course curriculum in this program gives the student the ability to work in many different
Information Technology areas within a business environment. Students will work independently and in
teams to learn the most current Project Management techniques.
Coursework includes an introduction to Visual Basic, Visual C# and Programming Lifecycle
Management, as well as database management courses in ACCESS 2010, SQL and SQL Server. This
program provides students with a well rounded approach to Information Technology by including A+
Essentials and Practical, Network Preparation, Desktop Support, Network
Operating Systems and an introduction to Project Management.
