DESIGN NEWS - WHAT'S NEW IN DESIGN AT SWFC

+ May, 2008 - The Interior Design Bachelors program is now recognized by the National Kitchen and Bath Association as a NKBA Supported Program. To become an NKBA Supported Program, an educational institution must have a kitchen and bath curriculum that prepares students for the NKBA Certification Exams. NKBA Supported Programs are evaluated with respect to mission, administration, curriculum, faculty and resources to determine eligibility and ability to fulfill the Association’s requirements for full accredited status. The Accredited Program was created by the NKBA to serve the professional needs of the industry and to ensure consistent, quality education for students who desire to become kitchen/bathroom design professionals.

+ On February 27, 2008 Southwest Florida College became apart of the largest network of interior design students in the world. Southwest Florida College has been approved to house an ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) student chapter. The Bachelors Degree program met the necessary requirements for student members to progress through ASID membership and become eligible to take the NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Qualification) exam.

+ On October 24, 2006 the Board of Architecture and Interior Design reviewed and accepted our letter of program validation as equivalent to Rule 61G1, Florida Administrative Code. Therefore, the board will accept graduates from our program as meeting the educational requirements set forth in Rule 61G1-22, Florida Administrative Code, for examination and licensure approval.
