Graduates of the bachelor's degree program in the Elementary Education (K-6
grades) with ESOL Endorsement, that have met all admissions, program course
and state exam requirements, receive a transcript indicating the completion of a
Florida Department of Education (DOE) state-approved program.
Southwest Florida College's Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education program is a four-year
program that is designed to prepare students to teach in the elementary school setting.
The program includes coursework and field experiences with a full term of student teaching
required as a capstone course.
The program introduces students to the many facets of teaching from the foundation of
designing instruction, classroom management and assessment to specialized topics such
as ESOL principles and practices, teaching diverse populations and integrating the arts into
instruction. Graduates of this program are eligible to sit for certification K-6 and will have
completed coursework necessary for ESOL endorsement.
