• Haiti Relief Effort: Southwest Florida College Reaches Out - Southwest Florida College will be participating in a jointly sponsored effort to provide humanitarian relief to the people of Haiti.
  
  “The devastation and human suffering on the island of Haiti is incomprehensible and the plea for help has been heard around the world,” said Dr. Stephen Calabro, Executive Vice President for Southwest Florida College.
  
  Student Activities Director for the college, Pamela King, has organized a donation drop site at each of the four Southwest Florida College campuses, which includes locations in Estero, Fort Myers, Port Charlotte and in Tampa.“We have a Haitian population at the college and we need to show our support and do something to help,” King said. “This helps to foster a sense of community beyond our campus.”
  
  Items such as shoes, blankets, shirts, diapers, toiletries as well as monetary donations, are being accepted at each of the college’s donation drop sites for the Haiti relief effort now through the deadline date of February 28, 2010.
  
  “Our mission statement speaks of changing lives,” said Dr. Calabro. “What better way to demonstrate our commitment to the mission than by reaching out to those in need.”

• SWFC’s Got Talent: 5:00 p.m. in the Student Lounge at the Fort Myers Campus. All students are welcome to perform their family friendly talent in front of a variety of judges, as well as in front of the student population. Grand Prize: Two Season’s Passes to Busch Gardens! • Winter Portfolio Event: Graphic Design students will showcase their work at the Fort Myers campus.  The time will be 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM.
